EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in an area of special education, school administration and supervision, or a related field.
Three years of successful experience in special education, administration or general school administration and supervision.
Preference will be given to special education administration.

(Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the above.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to school administration.
Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to special education and related matters.
Knowledge of effective school administration.
Ability to discuss the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled program in an effective manner with interested groups.
Ability to supervise staff.
Ability to work under supervision as well as assume leadership responsibilities when required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Coordinate curriculum development and implementation, improvement of instruction, and staff development.
Ensure efficiency of procedures in central office and supervise central office personnel.
Oversees the formulation and administration of a program of staff supervision and evaluation.
Supervises nursing and health care efforts.
Oversees compliance with IDEA.
Monitors annual student and performance evaluation.
Support superintendent in development of positive public relations both within and outside of MSSD system.
Strive to achieve greater efficiencies and effectiveness through continual review and revision of policies and procedures.
Proficiency in curriculum and effective instructional strategies for students with severe to profound disabilities.
Skillful in the application of the principals of Positive Behavior Support and Professional Learning Communities.  
Custodian of Records for MSSD.
Represent MSSD on appointed committees.
Lead project manager for the District Strategic Plan.
Process child complaints and due process hearings and mediation.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Lift and move 50 lbs.
